Stress-Induced Gene Expression Analysis Published
Molecular Cell
SKCC scientists lead by Drs. Mercola and McClelland pioneer
a new application of chromatin precipitation and array technology to identify
269 gene transcripts induced by genotoxic stress. As published in Molecular
Cell, this study identifies a specific profile of gene binding and regulation
by the AP-1 components c-Jun and ATF2 that specifically accompanies the
DNA-damage response to various stressors including common chemotherapeutic
agents. This profile begins to provide a mechanistic basis for tumor responses
and thus ultimately may provide important insights on how to improve current
cancer therapies.
