Schutz Proteomics Core Eberhard Durr runs 2 mass spectrometers
The proteomics core (which consists of three mass spectrometers)
has been used to map the proteins on the inner surface of the tumor
vessels and compare them with those present on the blood vessels of
the normal tissue. This work made possible the identification of the
targets to which antibodies coupled to radiation emitting chemicals
or chemotherapy drugs. 80% of the injected dose reaches the cancer
tissues and spares totally the normal tissue. A paper is in press in
Nature in which these antibodies have cured lung cancer in an animal
model.
